My apologies for not blogging sooner. Time is just flying! Christmastime is busy around here. I am SO glad we planned to take off six weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year's this year.
I am still continuing the family tradition of advent calendars each year. I don't have time to make a new one for every member of the family every year, so some are repeats from past years, but I was able to make a few new ones.
For my husband
For Solomon
For Isaac
For John
For Miriam
For Becky
For Anna
(made by my friend)
For Stephen
(made by Solomon)
(we fill the same one each day, because he would otherwise try to get into them all at once)
In addition, the kids each have their own chocolate advent calendars, too.
And then, I made this scratch-off activity calendar, that has something for every single day during our six week Christmas break.
You can see why we have been so busy!
How nice! Especially the scratch-off calendar, that would be a great idea for my family as well!
ReplyDelete#begging you to post your red and green themed dinner bc that sounds amazing
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays Zsu~!
I found some ideas on Google images.
DeleteWe haven't made the dinner yet, but I was either going to make fajitas (red and green bell peppers, tomatoes, in either tomato or spinach tortillas), pizza (reds: tomatoes, tomato sauce, red peppers, pepperoni; greens: pesto sauce, bell peppers, green onions, olives), or spaghetti (tomato sauce over green noodles) with a salad (reds and greens) on the side. Red beverage would be my berry-infused kombucha, which is bright red.
why was i not born one of your children omg
DeleteI thought maybe you were busy making room for your husband's Christmas presents. Planting Peace Sends Coal to Pastor Steven Anderson After His Homophobic Sermon. Hope you're planning a cookout.
ReplyDeleteWe were thinking about it, but if they send us the typical, fire starter infused charcoal, we will be tossing it and not ruin good food with toxic fumes.
DeleteIf it is good quality charcoal, yes, we will be hosting a cookout.
not the first anonymous poster but can you keep a few for sketching supplies? Is that a thing? Are they the same thing? Your kids could use some of those pieces for life drawing (y'know the typical fruits and silverware)
DeleteWhat is inside of them? (I'm just curious) They look outstanding!
ReplyDeleteJust little trinkets, such as stickers, hairbands, honey sticks, erasers, etc. For the oldest three boys, we bought one Lego set that had three separate bags/kits/instructions in them, so each day they get a few more pieces to keep building. I have done a similar thing with Playmobil sets before. For my husband, some have been date ideas, small gift cards, homemade treats, etc.
DeleteYou can look online for stocking stuffer ideas, and go from there.
What have you used for the scratch off stuff? I know my kids would love it.
ReplyDelete2 parts acrylic paint in your choice of color
Delete1 part liquid dishsoap
Mix, then apply two coats (let dry between coats). I made the mistake of applying 4 coats this time, which made it harder to scratch off. I just got carried away - LOL!
you such a sweet and thoughtful mother and wife. go you
ReplyDeletewow that looks so time consuming but lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteOnce again you are an inspiration! I am so impressed by the creativity of your Advent calendars let alone one for every child, one for your husband and one for the family-- what an extremely thoughtful and loving thing to do. I wrapped books this year for our alternative Advent calendar along with one we do every year that has scripture, a prayer, and a community service activity. I'm going to have to pin a few of yours for next year. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI am a mother of 5 and I just stumbled upon your blog. I am blown away at how much you get done! My youngest just turned one and I can't find time to do even the simplest craft - how do you do it????
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing ideas. Thanks for sharing.
