Double Digits

As alluded to in my post yesterday, we are, indeed, expecting baby number 8. I am just over 12 weeks pregnant, so just a few days shy of the second trimester. Baby is due in early to mid May. This will push our family into the double digits - "family of ten"... WOW! It really seems like just yesterday that we were waiting for little Solomon to arrive.

I went for my first checkup last week and heard the heartbeat, which is always so reassuring. The pregnancy is going well. My main pregnancy symptom is more fatigue than usual, which is fairly common. At this point, it is always very important for me to slow down and make sure I get a nap every day, and don't go to bed too late at night.

Some of my regular readers may know that I typically suffer from extreme, all-day morning sickness, also known as hyperemesis. Well, I am happy to say that after suffering through many pregnancies with terrible sickness before this current one, I have finally put together the puzzle pieces of all my research on the topic of morning sickness/NVP/hyperemesis, and have discovered the cause and cure for morning sickness, mild to severe. I realize that is a pretty bold claim. Consequently, my nausea has been minimal compared to what it usually would be. When I do get sick, it's about 10% of what I would have experienced in the past, and even then, it's always because of straying from the cure, and always reversible. Rather than being bedridden and miserable, I have been able to carry on with most of my regular obligations and carry on a normal level of activities.

I started writing on a blog post months ago explaining all the science behind it, and will publish it as soon as I wrap it up, now that we have announced the pregnancy.

So hold out, dear fellow sufferers! Help is on the way.

  2. Congratulations! Also, many I'm sure will be interested in your cure. I had mild morning sickness for a short while, and nice green Granny Smith apples took care of it. I'm sorry you have it so bad. I am an older lady in my 60's and wish I had known about not limiting my family when I was young. I grew up during the baby boom and most of my friends came from very large families, but it was always looked on as a burden. By the time I was grown, children were seen as a burden and it was considered the responsible thing to do to limit your family to 2 or 3 children. All but one of my friends who grew up in large families had very small families themselves. Glad to see the trend reversing. I think attitude is the whole thing. The Christian ladies' blogs about large families always bring in Bible verses (which never "connected" with me as a younger person) and have such a good attitude. I am not yet a grandmother. Blessings on you.

  10. How exciting!! We are also expecting #8 and I have felt a lot better in this pregnancy then in the first ones. I lost 5 to 10 pounds with with my first two pregnancies from being so sick and now I feel pretty good, still very tired. I look forward to your post and comparing notes with what helps you get through it!

  12. I look forward to your next blog post. My daughter suffers from severe morning sickness and she wants to have another baby, but it is hard for me to be supportive when I know how much it incapacitates her.

  15. I'm so happy for you!! Loved the pumpkins! What a creative way to announce! I just had #7 and my body is telling me, "I'm old (40)." I am wondering what you do about taking care of yourself so that you can care for your family. I know you are careful about what you eat, but do you exercise or take and vitamins? I feel like I should be walking or something, but finding the time with homeschooling, etc. is so hard. Just curious if you had any words of wisdom to share.
    Thanks, Mrs. E.

  17. Congrats!! Look forward to hearing about your cure. Although it's too late for me...I'm just a few weeks away from giving birth to my 7th and not really sure there will be any more little ones in our future...I'm 40. I did find a cure for my morning sickness (24 hours a day sickness), it was with over the counter medicine. I took a half of a regular Unisom, once a day at bedtime. I had very little morning sickness when I did this.

  18. I had bad hyperemesis with my son born sept 2015 I knots died with hyperememsis as diabetic and I was tested for helicobacter when he was a 8 months old and it was negative so o think it's not all to do with HP as I tested negative but I guess It makes it worse. I was hospitalised for most of my pregnancy
