Chocolate-raspberry poppers

Purely by accident, I "invented" the ultimate fruity, chocolaty indulgence today. I call this creation "chocolate-raspberry poppers", because you will just want to keep popping one after the other.

It's simple and quick to boot, which may be a good thing or a bad. All you need is two ingredients: fresh raspberries, and chocolate-covered raisins. If you don't have the latter, I'm thinking chocolate chips may stand in as a substitute just fine.

Put one chocolate-covered raisin in each raspberry. Fill a bowl - dessert is done!

On a related note, if you need a shortcut for a treat like chocolate-dipped strawberries, try this: the kids LOVE when I add a dollop of Nutella into whole, hulled strawberries. The taste is sublime, although of course they are not as pretty to look at, or have the same crunch, as real chocolate-dipped strawberries. Last time I made these, the kids literally ate 5 lbs of strawberries in one sitting! Those are the days I am thankful that I can get 8-lb flats of organic strawberries for $6 right now when they are in season.

Excuse me while I go back to the kitchen now and indulge myself... if the kids left any for me! :)

  1. Oh my goodness!!! What a wonderful idea! The combination of raspberries and chocolate is just another proof to me that God does indeed rule the universe. I have often put a dollop of hot fudge sauce into raspberries, piled them up, and served it as a dessert, often with ice cream. I will definitely stuff them with chocolate covered raisins!
