What I've been up to

In an interesting turn of events, I came to be the owner of a brand-new, super fancy embroidery machine last week that was given to me for FREE. I will write about how I came by this blessing in a separate post, but for now, I just wanted to share some of the projects that have been keeping me busy (in case you were wondering about my blogging absence).

Most all of what I have been making are appliques, as opposed to just embroidery stitches. Prior to receiving this machine, I had never done either, so the learning curve was steep to say the least.

My first project ever

 Matching shirts for the girls

A hooded towel I made as a gift for a new baby at church (modeled by Annika)

There have been a few other projects that I can't share here, because they are gifts. :) And all this in just the last week! To say it's addicting is an understatement.

Surprisingly, this is actually a wonderful hobby for a busy mom like myself, because the work is done in many little steps. Once I get the machine going on the next step, I can walk away to switch a load of laundry, do a chore, deal with the kids, etc. while the machine does the stitching, and then pop back in to move on to the next step whenever I have a minute. Perfect!

And, it's a great diversion after CPS comes knocking at your door completely unwarranted in the middle of the night after some hater presumably places an unfounded emergency call to them. (insert eye roll) Even the accompanying police officers were apologetic about disturbing us, and promptly left, not to be heard from again as of yet. Thanks to our church's notoriety, we are no strangers to the Tempe PD, and I will admit that as police officers go, ours have always been nice to us. Anyhow, we do not expect that anything will come of the current malicious attack on our family. We have received legal advice on how to proceed, and ways we can go after those making false accusations (which are actually a crime in and of themselves). I would appreciate everyone keeping us in their prayers, as our family is a constant target for hate and viciousness from a few hateful reprobates. If anything else happens, or the situation changes, I will update you all here.

For now, I'm back to my wonderful embroidery machine. So much to do, so little time!

P.S. Apologies to my Facebook friends, who have heard me talk about little else beside my new obsession this week - and now it's reached the blog, too!

  1. I'm sorry about that CPS call! What an awful thing for someone to do! I think its really stupid that people do not do their research (especially on a family that DOES blog), and automatically assume that having a lot of children suddenly means child abuse.

I'm not saying that there isn't child abuse in large families, but i've read your blog tons of times and know for a big fact that your children are loved and provided for. There is nothing that makes me angrier than someone making a giant assumption about "Abuse" just because the church/job someone runs has had problems in the past (not with abuse, but with the media).

Anyway its delightful to see you blog, I was hoping you'd come around after your awesome Q&A, maybe people will stop being stupid and hopefully you guys can find out who did that ridiculous call.
You have all the right to be annoyed with people, especially since you are obviously a good mother.

  2. I read your husband's post the other night and I was furious. Having been through an encounter with CPS ourselves I can testify that nothing other than my miscarriage has been as emotionally traumatic as that three month long ordeal. It all turned out fine, but I literally feel sick to my stomach every time I hear the words "family services".

As my husband and I talked about Faithful Word must be doing a lot of good there in Tempe to warrant such as vicious attack from the reprobates. Every person saved is one less person they can get to with their wicked lifestyle. Keep up the good work. We have been listening to your husband's preaching for the last seven years and we think it's wonderful. I personally have been so blessed by it because I thought for years that I had to repent of my sins to be saved. I knew there was no way I could do that so I thought I was doomed to hell and I was very depressed about it. But I was scared to talk to anybody . I didn't know who to talk to. Everyone at my church thought I was already saved and I was scared people would hate me if they found out I wasn't. So I kept quite for years. It was such a relief to learn that salvation is really just believing on Jesus. That I could do.

I haven't read through the entire Bible yet, but I have read more than I ever have in my life. I purchased the Bible on CD by Alexander Scourby and I listen to it often.

Please know that you have a great impact even on people you have never meet.

I will pray for your family and your entire church.

  3. I just recently discovered your blog. I am a homeschooling mom too and love my embroidery machine. I can't wait to see your projects. I'm about to start on some ITH (in the hoop) projects.

  4. Are you lying about the CPS? People say that you are lying?

    1. I heard through the grapevine that the lovely ladies at "Free Jinger" are claiming the whole CPS story is made up, based on the fact that the police/CPS did not pursue this "case" any further.

Just when I thought FJ couldn't get any crazier, they surprise me again. What in the world would be the point of making up such a story???? The whole idea is absurd. I guess they judge others by their own lying ways, but this one doesn't even make any sense. Why in the world would we want to anger the Tempe police and/or social services by not just making up a lie that they came by our house in the middle of the night, but then make a public YouTube clip about it, saying how it was in one way or another a retaliation in response to my husband's preaching. That would be pretty stupid, wouldn't it? And what in the world would be the benefit?

It happened just as we said it did. I guess I have to post a screen shot of my call to HSLDA at 11:36 pm that night, and their return call shortly before midnight?

Seriously, some people need to get a life. No wonder the Bible says that women without a husband, children, and household to care for would be idle, tattling busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

  6. Glad you can pursue a vindictive complainant. I'm disgusted by what is going on with these malicious people.

  7. And why the heck would anyone lie about the CPS? It's a devastating experience!

Free jinger morons also said the Boaz and Jachin pregnancy outcome was made up to get money. Not all of them
    but some. Ugh.

  8. Why do any of you read trash like that website? It seems to me they are doing what the Bible says not to do...going from house to house (over the world wide web) and being busybodies. They can see how many people read their gossip , so I , for one, steer clear of even clicking on their website. My life is much better for it, I am sure.

  9. those women at fj are nothing but gossips with nothing better to do with their time but make fun of families like yours. Pathetic bunch of cows.

  10. I'm really sad to hear that anyone would be motivated to bother your family in this way and I'm sorry to hear it. The people on FJ are just lost and malicious- they sit around all day talking trash about other people instead of directing that energy and critique into their own lives. It says a lot about them that they need to do this, and it's a reflection of how bored they are. It says a lot that people who demand tolerance from others have no tolerance themselves for lifestyles they don't understand or value.

I will join in others in praying for you. I know you are upset and irritated. But honestly, I'm an unmarried, childless woman and I don't meddle in other peoples lives, I think that's an unkind thing to say about women as a blanket statement and I've never read such a thing in the Bible.

  11. Anon 11:30 I chanced upon the website when I was google searching for another Christian family blog where i could only remember the names of the family vaguely but not the blog name. . I basically entered FJ in knowing it was no good and yeah I regret it. I saw a post about Mrs Anderson's pregnancy and I was disgusted. But then I felt a kind of pity, Zsuzsanna has so much more than any of those commenters and they are so very, very misguided. But then I felt all angry again. Sigh!

So in answer to your question I read some of the trash and I regret it immensely. I've never entered into any debate. It preyed on my mind so yes, you are much better for it. I had to pray a lot about it.

PS I did find my blog via free jinger but they are no longer Christians and there have been several turns of events including a death in the family :*(

  12. Hello, from Texas! I just wanted to state one thing about CPS. Please don't think I'm disregarding what happened to your family. It's awful to have false allegations brought against you and then you have to deal with the roller coaster that is CPS. I'm sorry that happened to you. My family and I are IFB. We are Bible believing Christians and my husband is a CPS Investigator. I know what I'm about to say is not the norm, but hopefully it can give you hope about an entity that doesn't have the best reputation. My husband uses his job to minister to others. He's witnessed to almost every client and he's seen countless souls- young and old- saved. He's gotten dinners for families on Thanksgiving, beds and clothing for children that literally have nothing, benefits for those that need healthcare, presents for children at Christmas, and housing for clients that are homeless. He gives bibles and tracts to almost every case he gets. I know that this isn't the norm and it's never published or made known, but don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. And remember that it's ridiculous allegations made towards innocent families like yours that keep people like my husband from actually getting abused children away from their abusers. CPS has to investigate EVERY SINGLE allegation. No matter how ridiculous. And to be honest, I'm waiting for the day someone calls on us. We homeschool. We are conservative Christians. We are a large family. The list goes on. But, please, just know there are Bible believing Christians that are hard at work at agencies like CPS that really are trying to help and make a difference for Christ.
