He's Here!

Stephen Gilliatt Anderson was born today on his Dad's 31st birthday, measuring 21 inches and weighing 8 lbs.

The labor was long, which made it a bit frustrating, but not too bad as far as pain. Relatively speaking :)

We had agreed all along to name the baby after dad if it was born on this exact birthday. Not only do they share a birthday, but they were also born at almost the same time of day (only 15 minutes off!).

We chose the middle name after the main character in "Toilers of the Sea" by Victor Hugo, the book my husband was reading out loud to me during the marathon labor.

After the birth, my midwife and her students not only cleaned the entire house and kitchen, but also stayed to frost the birthday cake, and join us for dinner.

We are all well, I just feel tired from the usual blood loss. Many thanks for the congratulations, prayers, and well-wishes. More details to come when I get a chance to write the birth story.

  36. Wow - congratulations! I wasn't expecting to see this just yet...What a precious miracle every child is, and really, I know it's such a cliche, but time really flies. I started reading your blog not long before Anna was born and remember your birth story with her...Hope there were no scares with this one!!! Can't believe she's already a year and a half!

Also, I have to know what you're going to do now that you have two kids whose name starts with "S." I thought you had a strict policy of not sharing first letters of the names :-)

Looking forward to the birth story once you get some rest!!! Enjoy your growing family.

    He is beautiful, congratulations.

I am very much looking forward to reading your birth story. How involved were to older kids? I'd love to hear their perspectives.

Wishing Stephen a life of joy.

  41. Great that the birth turned out fine, I was a bit worried and prayed quite a lot during the last weeks, hoping everything would turn out good. So many children! I can't even imagine how it must be with 7 kids. I can remember Annas birthstory and can't believe time has passed so quick. Wishing you a good recovery and your energies to kick in quick so that you can cope with this additional bundle of joy.

  46. I'll just yell this cross country: CONGRATULATIONS!!

I was just sneaking on before going to bed when I found out the big news! How wonderful: every child is God's hope for a more beautiful world.

I have the same question as The_Canuck in my search for a guess! I think you'll have to go with "G" unless you think of naming...hm...too late for me to think clock-time and early-to think for you baby-time, but Gabriel or...surely Grace is a biblical name? ;)

Well, I came to say I was praying for your labour and your little one, now I can just say for you and for little Stephen Gilliatt and his lovely brothers and sisters.

As they say here: Never in my pea pickinist dreams would he be born on his Daddy's birthday! (Are the sparklers for Stephen?)

Also, (erase if you may, Zsuzsanna) THERE is your answer, anon from 'why do you call your husband your husband?' Because now its her husband's and her child's! (Though I note the spelling difference, Stephen's and Steven's mail-carriers thank you ;)

May God bless new Mom, new Dad, and the spectacular seven!

    Mindy

P.S. I was coming here to give you some heat/pregnancy encouragement: an article about an Olympian that was 8 months pregnant(yes, that's 8, not a typo)
