Baby photos

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. - James 1:17

Many thanks for all the well-wishes. We are doing well and adjusting to being a family of nine. Stephen is turning out to be another picture-perfect, mellow, and easy baby. He eats, sleeps, and has happy awake times - but he never fusses! He's even happy to snooze for a couple of hours on his own after eating, without me having to hold him the entire time. Very low maintenance - our older kids are more work than he is! :)

There's not much time to blog today, but I wanted to share some more pictures of baby Stephen. He is growing and changing by the minute - little stinker! :)

Grandma giving him his first bath

My midwife gave the older kids a set of popsicle molds, and made juice popsicles with them. How cool is that??? Oh yeah, her and her students also came over for dinner for the 24 h checkup, brought all the sides, and afterward cleaned the kitchen, did the dishes, and mopped the floors. How many doctors do that???!?

Stephen sleeps like this by my side every night. SO sweet to wake up to!!! Seven babies later, I have never used a crib, and never lose sleep with a newborn - they just eat right by my side as we both snooze on. So easy! (That's not to say I don't get woken up for other reasons between all the kids.)

To answer some questions:

- The name was my husband's idea. I agreed to it ONLY if he was born on my husband's birthday, which I figured was a very slim chance - it was 8 days before my due date and I have never been that early. Apparently, it was meant to be this way. :)

- This is also an exception to my plans of not repeating first initials. We'll go with S for Solomon and St for Stephen.

- We changed Stephen's spelling of his name from my husband's to avoid confusion in the future, since they were born on the same day (think: socialist insecurity, birth certificates, etc.)

- At home, I call my husband "Steve" and the baby "Stephen" or "baby Steve"

Birth story coming up next...

  7. Dear Zsuzsanna! Your husband's genes seem to overrule yours. Stephen is also a carbon copy of his! Doesn't matter, he is beautiful anyways, and omg, does he have a lot of hair or what! Ah, congratulations again :) Thanks for sharing more pics with us!

  9. I know this is a post about baby Stephen, but Anna is the cutest little girl ever ! I'm sure she'll grow up to be a gorgeous young lady.

It must be quite reassuring to have an easy baby :) I'm sure you must be quite tired, and happy to have prepared all those meals for the family. Congratulations to everybody, especially you, because you gave birth to the cutest little boy !

  10. Oh he is so cute!!! Good call on the different spelling of the name. My dad and brother don't even have the same birthday just exact name (first, middle, last) and they share the same address still and they have tried to ruin my brothers credit with my my dad's unpaid debts claiming it was him..crazy. Can't wait to hear the birth story!

  11. That hair is cracking me up! Little fluff-head! And I personally love his name but since my husband's name is Steve, I am a little biased. :O) Congratulations and blessings on your family.

  12. Oh - he is just so yummy...If I ever have another baby, I am going to need to call you. I just can't seem to master the whole sleeping through nursing thing, and it makes life with a newborn SO MUCH HARDER. I'm sure I'm just missing something b/c all my kids were very different babies (some easier, some more colicky), but the constant was that I couldn't sleep with them in my bed. And, believe me, I really wanted to!!!

When you have a moment, I'm also curious as to how the transition went to move Anna out of your bed now that baby Stephen is there...

  17. Congratulations!! You truly are blessed! All of your children are beautiful, but Anna is downright striking! What a gorgeous child! Miriam must be getting old enough now to be a big help, along with her older brothers.
