Who am I kidding?

Sometimes I fool myself into thinking Annie looks like me.

Then I realize it's just the same hair, and that she is actually a carbon copy of her Dad in all other respects.

I don't think it's fair how all the kids look so much more like him than me.

At least, that blonde hair seems to come through in my favor every time.

I guess we'll just have to keep trying! ;)

  1. LOL I know that feeling! I do think the kids are a mix of both of you though, favoring your husband more. At least they have your coloring. You both were super cute kids! My daughter looks just like her father (or more specifically his mother) with the same coloring and everything, which is very opposite of myself. I hate when people have to ask, "Is she yours?" Sigh, YES! I hope if I'm blessed with another child or children they have SOMETHING similar to myself.

  2. I think Isaac looks a lot like you (at least from the photos I can see.).

  3. I still strongly percieve that other than Steven's eyes (sorry I called him Steve the last time, someone close to me is Steve he was on my mind) the Doll looks totally like you. Zsuzsa, who would she take after? Hillary Clinton? You *are* her mother! :)

  4. My youngest daughter is the spitting image of me, through my mom's side of the family. My oldest daughter when she was born was the spitting image of my ex-husband. I do see a lot of my sister in her as well. My sister used to be the spitting image of my dad but now is starting to look like my mom, she is now 43. So you never know as they get older they might favor you more. Both you and your husband were so cute as babies. You have some really handsome/pretty children. Clare

  5. I think your youngest son looks most like you and the other five are a very good blend. I can see both in the rest. Of course I am only seeing photos and mannerism also play into genetics.

By the way they are cuties just the same!

  7. If it's any 'consolation', I see a lot of you in Isaac :)

  8. You know, I still believe she is your 'spitting imagine' with the exception of the chin! But that's what's lovely about having so many--the glorious variety that God has in store for our children: looks, personalities, proclivities and aversions--the list goes on and on!
(Usually, when one of ours is naughty, it's from the others' side of the family, LOL!)

And I, for one, cannot wait until we see the next and next, as well as what the older children will grow into.

God bless you, Dad, and the seven,

    Mindy

(BTW, this is a bit late, but to Patti (aka 'FourKids' with the goat picture) you mentioned daughter hugging, particularly males, a few posts back. I know that when a man comes towards me to hug me, I put out my hands and grab his in a friendly way and say something akin to "God bless you!"--it's not perfect solution, but I find it preferrable to hugging--perhaps this will help your daughter?)

  9. P.S. I looked through the photographs (I love those J.C. Penney photographs you used to post of the children!) and while Miss Miriam and Miss Rebecca had light hair, it still wasn't as BLONDE as Miss Anna Toehead! I wonder if it will stay that way? Your public will have to stay tuned!

  10. She actually really looks like both of you! I'm not very good at family resemblances, though. Each person just looks like him/herself to me once I've known them for a while. And I've been reading your blog since before Anna was born (wow, time flies!), so I guess I kind of feel like I "know" her. At any rate, your kids are all adorable, whoever it is they look like.

  11. When she was a child, my sister looked exactly like my dad when he was a child. Growing up, not so much. I have never looked a little bit like my dad, but not exactly like my mum, either, so I don't know where I've come from ! ^^ I wish I looked like my grandma, who was the most beautiful woman you could picture. But I was born the way I am, and that's the appearance I have to accept.

I agree with the comments above : from your children, Isaac looks like you the most. Of course, the 6 of them are good-looking and charming, but it's true that the others look more like your husband. I have always thought Anna looks just like John, on the pictures. I wonder what for a cute face the new baby will have !

  12. I wouldn't worry too much about who they look like. You have absolutely adorable children!

  13. Based on pics, I see you in all of your children...in fact, I see more of you than him in several of the kids. I always thought it is so interesting how some families have children that have distinct looks favoring one parent or the other, while other families have such blended kids that don't look too much like either parent. My siblings and I are very blended. None of us have mom's nose or dad's nose, etc. , but each of ours is a different blend of different relatives. So we don't look much like each other either. I always thought it was strange to see a kid look almost exactly like one parent. I always wonder where all the other genes went...lol

  14. When I was born I used to look like my paternal grandfather. Then as a school kid I looked like my father, when I turned 18 I looked like my maternal grandmother, now I look like absolutely no one in the family - no I did not have a plastic surgery or sex change op - but interestingly... my sister and I who looked like coming from 2 different planets totally look alike now. Like, ridiculously alike. So, I don't know how these things work. :)

  15. I haven't read all the comments here and maybe someone already said this, but sometimes it's their facial expressions that they make that make them look like more than one parent than their features. My sister and I look a lot alike because we make the same facial expressions -- and her features are like my dad's and mine are like my mom's. People who only know one of us will stop the other one in public asking if we are each other's sister (does that make sense?). And my oldest is 12 and spent a great deal of his time looking like me when he was younger and now he's starting to look for like his dad. It is fun to see how they change. Just make sure you look at photos often and you will see it shift.

  16. I'm curious if you've read this story and your reaction...it's such a difficult 'toss up' reaction...

  17. Your husband just has stronger genes than you do :-D. I'm the one in our family with the stronger genes, not only do all of our kids look like me and not like my husband but my grandchildren look like me as well (they look like their father who looks just like me) Most men like to brag about the virility of their sperm but my eggs rocked when it came to making our babies :-)

  18. you have a beautiful family. God bless you for trusting in God for the size of your family and raising them the Bible way.
There's a certain man in Memphis though who you and you're husband will have to play catch up to...

  19. Kids do change as they grow up. I looked more like my mom when I was little, but now I look exactly like my half-sister on my dad's side. So a kid who looks like your husband now may be more like you in a decade or two.

Anyway, maybe #7 (or #8, or #9) might be mini-Zsuzsanna...

  20. I'm sure you probably posted this, but have you put up a link for purchase to your 1 year menu plan?
