Green Smoothie Girls

These two girls are just such a joy. We were out of straws for their "green smoothies", which led to these funny pictures.

Later, I noticed that Becky actually had a complete "smoothie circle" on her face from the glass. If you look closely, you can see it going across her nose.

My teenage nephew liked it so much he drank four or five glasses of it! Ingredients in this smoothie: banana, apple, blackberries, Kale, and Ormus Greens, plus ice and water to make it the right consistency.

  1. I'm almost afraid to ask, but at $54.95/lb., how much of the "greens" does one serve per glass of smoothie?

  3. This is os unrelated to those gorgeous little girls but I have a question.

The Bible says to give unto ceaser what is do unto him. Who decides and how are we to know what is due Caesar?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Miriam needs to stop growing up so fast. I remember her when she was just a little baby, and now she's a big girl! Little babies growing up is so bittersweet.

  6. LizBeth,

we got ours for $38.25 through our co-op. It says to use 1 to 2 tsp, so I use 1.5 tsp (= 1/2 tbsp). I am guessing the one lb bag has several hundred servings in it and will last us at least 6 months. I can tell a huge difference in how I feel, my energy levels, and my mood throughout the day when I don't get my green smoothie!

    anon,

since money is taken from us by the government with the threat of violence at the barrel of a gun, they decide. But I believe that no matter the conditions we live under, God is able to provide for us.

    Megan,

I know. :( She was a baby just yesterday.

  7. Too adorable! Do the girls know how good those smoothies are for them? Mine don't, lol! I'm afraid they won't drink them then.

Love me some green smoothies. The best part is I have a different one every day - I simply dump whatever fresh fruits or veggies I have that morning into the blender. I do notice that if I use a banana, that is the dominant taste.

Your kids are growing up so fast, and what beauties the girls are becoming.

  8. I'm not familiar with Ormus Greens. How do they differ from regular greens (spinach, etc.) On that site you link to it mentions them being magnetic and causing vibrations in the body? What makes them so different? Thanks

  9. You always give me such good healthy/green ideas for the family. Thanks! So do you have these smoothies every morning??? (That's what I interpreted from your response in the comments, but maybe I misunderstood.) I really have to start doing this for the kids - they are such cold cereal monsters!!!

  11. Is it hard for you to be a good mom and love all your children equally when Becky is clearly the most adorable? Be honest.

*just joking all of your children are adorable of course

Actually you decide when you choose to live here. There are countries that don't do this, but you choose to live here.

  13. I am curious, do you think these smoothies replace a meal, or at least a snack? Like, are they filling? Or can you at least eat a smaller meal or something? I've been trying to make some of these, some I succeed, some I don't. It's trial and error and right now I only use spinach because it's usually all I have. We eat a lot of spinach.

  14. Zsuzsanna,
I wonder if you have any insights to offer about the Oslo tragedy.

    - another stupid ignorant comment lol! If you have to find a problem with every little thing, seriously don't read here. You just look pathetic.

  16. Is the flavour of the greens strong? If I put it in a drink with, say, milk, raspberry and protien powder, do you think I'd notice it strongly, or just a subtle 'green' flavour?

I am preparing for the possibility of another HG pregnancy very soon, and I was extremely fortunate to be able to take most fluids last time. I am drinking smoothies with natural protien powder many mornings due to lingering morning nausea until the first meal of the day, but I would like to make this 'meal' as nutrient packed as possible while still being able to keep it down, I think that will help me a lot in pregnancy this time around if I can try and make everything I do keep down count.

Also, I was wondering if you had any 'recepies' for smoothies for someone who dosen't like banana! Everything uses banana as a filler, which makes sence, but they make me want to throw up! I tried using juices and nectars until I realised the insane amount of sugar they contained, so now I use milk but milk only works with berries really, milk and apple, not so much. I had wanted something a bit more substantial than a juice or water based drink though... lol, now I'm just being picky :D Any ideas though?
