Mom tased during routine traffic stop

A police officer in the Syracuse, New York, area Tasered a 37-year-old mom repeatedly in front of her children during a routine traffic stop—and then arrested the mom, leaving the children alone in their family minivan for 40 minutes in freezing weather.

The incident took place in Onondaga County, New York, on January 31, but dashcam video of the incident only recently came to light.

According to a report at, what started out as a routine traffic stop escalated quickly when 37-year-old Audra Harmon challenged officer Sean Andrews assertion that she had been talking on her cell phone when he pulled her over. Harmon disputed that fact, as well as the officers claim that she had been speeding—doing 50 mph in a 45 zone.

An article at describes the situation:

Harmon had been driving home with her 15-year-old son, whom she had just picked up from wrestling practice, and 5-year-old daughter. She said she was resting her right hand on her cheek as she pulled behind a sheriffs deputy to make a right turn onto the road where she lived. After she made the turn, the deputy pulled off the road to let her pass, then pulled out behind her with his lights flashing and siren blaring.
When Harmon got out of her minivan to show Officer Andrews that she wasnt in possession of a cell phone, and to ask to see video footage of her allegedly talking on the cell phone she didnt possess, the officer ordered her to get back in her car.

And then he pulled out his taser and said Im under arrest, Harmon said. I got back in the car and he said he wanted me back out of the car now. And I said Why am I under arrest? He then yanked me out of the car pulled his taser out and the first shot jolted me

According to, Harmon was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and going 50 in a 45 mph zone. The district attorneys office dismissed the charges a month later—after watching the videotape, said her lawyer, Terrance Hoffmann.

Amazingly, the officer had justified Harmons arrest by saying she had obstructed traffic by getting out of her minivan.

As MSNBC points out, when Harmon was arrested, her children, aged five and 15, were left by the side of the road for forty minutes.

Harmon is suing the Onondaga County sheriffs office. Officer Andrews has been taken off street patrol and reassigned until an internal affairs investigation is completed, the sheriffs office said.

This guy is nothing but another perverted freak on a power trip. Does anyone actually believe that this "cop" was in a life-and-death situation and had to use the taser as a last resort to save his own life? Or did he not rather just want to punish the lady for "giving him attitude" and questioning his "authority".

What is this world coming to when men in uniform throw a lady on the floor, taser her, step on her and arrest her in front of her children all in the name of public safety? Who was the aggressor? Who was the victim? Does nobody else see how WRONG and PERVERTED this is? Guys like this are the reason why people hate cops, and no, they are not just a "bad apple" or an exception, they are the rule. Check out this YouTube channel and get a dose of reality.

With any luck, this guy will get killed in a car accident while he is out trolling around in his squad car. It might save a Mom's life. Shame on his mother for raising such a worthless excuse for a human being. Yes, I did just say all that. And let me remind you that if you do not enjoy reading my blog, you never need to visit here again, and you will not be missed.

  1. I completely agree with you that what that man did was horrible and wrong. It sickened me, especially to know that her children were watching.

Can you please explain, though, how that translates to you hoping he gets killed? I am just not seeing the connection.

(For some reason I am unable to sign into my Google account, so I'll just sign my name.)

  2. Wow. That is unbelievable. I hope she wins her lawsuit.

  3. Psalm 11:5,6:

The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

    Psalms 58:6-11
    (6) Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.
    (7) Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.
    (8) As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
    (9) Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.
    (10) The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
    (11) So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

  4. Wow. That is just crazy!! You're right that cops do abuse their power many times, and it's scary that they get away with it. It's not like Obama's going to do anything to stop it... (unless the person being pulled over is black, and can claim it was racism).

  5. Yet another rogue cop running rampant on the streets of America...yet another so called 'public servant' hiding behind his badge and his taser and his gun...yet another coward and a menace...another bully who is endangering the lives of the people he swore to 'protect and serve'...he needs to be removed from the streets...he makes a mockery of all those public servants who DO 'protect and serve' the people of America.

So here's to all you rogue bullies...who need to get a life and leave ours are being watched...and your days are numbered -

    Open Letter

To the Tens of Thousands of Rogue Cops -

    February 16, 2008

  6. Amen, Mrs. Anderson! So now we drivers can't even touch or rest our hand to our head because it looks like using a cell phone. It seems some of our sworn protection servants and hirlings are the terrorists!

  7. What a freak! This is why I'm almost deathly afraid of being pulled over. Not to mention all the perverts that masquerade as cops and try to get women to pull over during the night.

  8. That is just blatantly disproportionate as she did nothing threatening - not to mention he looks so big and she so small. And her children had to watch that and sit alone at the side of the road? That is the worst part to me. Poor loves.

I don't think our police officers carry these tasers and I am glad for that, and glad that I can more or less trust them. (I don't hope the officer gets killed though, because I am not God and only He can pass judgement with true justice and true mercy.)

  9. :/ I saw this article the other day...

That is incredibly sad and extremely intolerable. I won't say I wish death on the man (I can't really wish that on anyway), but he needs to be punished, severely for this.

    What he did was inexcusable.

  10. I used to teach my children that the police were there for protection and they were to trust the police. NO MORE! I don't trust any of them because you can never tell which ones are decent human beings who believe it's their job to serve and protect and which one's are macho (that goes for the females with big chips on their shoulders and penis envy too) power tripping thugs with badges. I get sick with fear just seeing one drive near me these days

  11. what happened with this case Zsusanna??? How awful for this woman.

  12. While I do agree that what the police officer did is wrong and he should lose his job over it, wishing he would die is a very sad witness. May I remind you that we have all sinned and all deserving of death, except for the grace of our Lord.
Using the OT to justify your reasoning is silly.
    Nurse Bee

  13. Love your neighbor as yourself..It to is in the bible if I am to believe your statement.. You are wishing people around you would be killed? I too am not understanding why you think the world would be luckier if he were dead.
    Please explain yourself.

  14. wow you are seriously a bitter, angry woman....

  15. Oh my, I'm sick after watching that video. I'm sure her poor children were in the car screaming and terrified for their mother. I agree what is the world coming to. What I really don't undertand is why that officer wasn't thrown into jail.. Seems he broke more laws than the lady who "obstructed traffic" - Seriously isin't the officer himself guilty of the same? Or is he above the law himself?

  16. This sorry excuse for a human being should have been FIRED, not just assigned to something different.

  17. You will get no objection from me on this one.

  18. This is so sad.

There are many, many, 'good guys' behind the badge, who want nothing more than to...well, Protect and Serve.

These fruitcakes on a power trip are giving every officer a bad name, besides the fact that they're scaring citizens, who then overreact out of fear when they are approached by a good guy, causing him to use extra caution that would not have been necessary in the first place...

    It's disgusting. Period.

I think they need better screening to become a cop. My opinion.

PS I'm a fairly new reader and have really enjoyed your blog :-)

  19. This is a bunch of mess! This reminds me of the time that a cop pulled me over for not stopping completely at a stop sign, okay. However, when I didn't provide the information he needed fast enough, he threatened that he would have to take me to jail if I didn't give him the information. Who said that I wouldn't give it to him?

    Mrs. Lady Sofia

  20. nice how in New York a piece of human filth like this gets put on administrative duties but in Texas they fired one guy and suspended 3 others for letting a waitress pose with one of their guns. Seems right doesn't it. be a scumbag and brutalize citizens get put on the desk, act stupid around a hot chick get fired.

  21. While what he did was horrible, if your house was robbed or you were attacked by a man I'm sure you'd call the police, or yell for your children to do so if you could not. All police officers are not bad. People say the same of Christians (which I am) because of people like you who do not follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I have to explain that we're not all like the angry raving people like Mr. Anderson. In the same way, not all police officers are like this officer and I personally know a fellow Christian who is a loving husband, father, and police officer. Making broad generalizations about groups of people and then wishing death upon them (as your husband did about "sodomites" and you regarding this officer) is how genocide occurs. Once you dehumanize people in your mind, you can do anything to them including kill them. Yes its your blog, but if you feel your opinion is scripturally sound than a counter argument should be acceptable, no? I understand your husband was harmed by an officer and I am truly sorry for that, despite his beliefs. It must have been scary and heartbreaking for all of you and the children, let alone him. Please do not let one bad apple spoil the bunch in your mind. If your child is taken by someone, I would hope they are taught to go to a police officer. We are ALL fallen, and that's why we need the Lord. It's not just Police Officers or Presidents, its the Human Race. I urge you to rethink your views on wishing death on someone, because Jesus clearly said to Love your enemies, and that people who did NOT love Him by loving others on earth, he will greet at heaven's gates with "I do not know you!"
