Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, I've been dreading it for a while, and it's finally here - my 30th birthday. Ugh. I wouldn't mind it so much if it weren't for the fact that I still feel like I am 21, the age at which I got married. Maybe it's because my life has changed very little since then, other than the fact that there are more and more children in our family.

My husband, who is 2 years and 4 months younger than me, is going to enjoy the next few years of telling everyone that he has a wife "in her thirties", while he is "in his twenties".

Call me weird, but I think I am getting old. And personally, I would not mind that. But sadly, it also means that my babies are growing up. Time flies when you're having fun, and it seems that in the blink of an eye my little newborn turned into the oldest of now 5 children. In one more moment, he will be an adult, and his siblings will all follow suit in very short succession.

Oh how I wish that life had a "Pause" button, because I'd like to stop it right here indefinitely.

Please excuse me while I go have a little pity party for myself.

  1. Happy Birthday!!

Just think, most people haven't accomplished nearly as much as you have at age 30! Many aren't even married yet and don't have kids, so you're blessed!

  4. Happy birthday! Turning 30 was kind of hard for me, too, and I felt very much like you do. I think the "pity party" is probably normal. I promise you, you have many more years of energy and youth left (I'm 47, so I know) and that's not to mention enjoying seeing your kids grow into teenagers and young adults. There's much to look forward to, too!

  6. Hi Zsuzsanna, although I don't celebrate birthdays I just realized ours are very close, mine is the 30th in 5 days. I'll be 24. Oh and wasn't your daughter Miriam born on February 14th?! I just had my little boy on the 14th of Feb. as well.
Married at 21 as well, but hubby is 13 years older than me :(. Maybe I'll have 5 kids by the time I'm 30 too (a thought that really scares my husband, but he's coming around to the idea, slowly but surely). I just keep telling him about yours and Candy's families oh and Sherry's with 15 kids... then he thinks that my wanting 4 or 5 isn't that bad. I don't know why I'm rambling on this morning. I sound like I have no life... I'll go clean my kitchen now. Hehe
    Have a great day.

  7. Happy Birthday!

I'll be in the 30's club in September as well! :(

My husband told the Sunday night Spanish crown at church that when we got married he was 19 and I was 20. I HATE THAT, we married 10 days before his 20th birthday.

    Love ya,

    Mick

  8. Happy Birthday !!

You have a wonderful family and church family. Most people at age 30 have only been out of college a few years and are not even married yet, much less have five children. So you should feel blessed.

  9. Oh I didn't 30 was so bad (I'll be 32 in June)...the only hard part for me was not having children yet. I always said I wanted me 2 or 3 before 30 but I suppose things always work out (or don't) for a reason. 30 is the new 20...don't you know...hehe! (Or at least I keep telling myself that!)

  10. Happy, Happy Birthday!
    Thirty is NOT old!
And it's quite good to feel even younger.
If you feel fifty-one when you're sixty you'll REALLY be doing something. LOL!
    Blessings, Liz

  11. When I turned 30 I was glad I was married, had kids, and owned a home. 30 is only depressing if you haven't accomplished much.

  13. Happy birthday! I am also older than my husband, a fact which he likes to mention to anyone who will listen.
Oh, and I found 35 harder especially the day when I had to fill in a form and tick my age. I went from the 20 - 34 box to the 35 - 50 box! I almost died but I solved the problem by writing 'I am actually 35 not 50' next to the box. A fact my husband still finds hilarious
